In February 2024, Coven Cat Refuge NFP emerged in the heart of Chicago with a vision: to create a sanctuary where every cat can transform from survivor to cherished companion. As a new rescue organization, we're building something special - a community-driven safe haven where both cats and their future guardians can find their perfect match.

Our Approach to Care

Medical Care

We're establishing partnerships with Chicago's veterinary clinics to provide comprehensive medical care for every cat in our program. From routine checkups to specialized treatments, we ensure each cat receives the attention they need to thrive.

  • The first step is completing our online adoption application. Once approved, you'll be able to schedule a meeting at our sanctuary to get to know the cat(s) you're interested in. Our team will guide you through the rest of the easy adoption process.

  • Our standard adoption fee of $[X] covers comprehensive vetting, including spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations, and any necessary medical care. This ensures your new feline friend is healthy and ready to join your family.

  • We don't have strict age requirements, but we do require all adopters to be at least 21 years old. We also carefully consider the needs of any existing pets or children in the home to ensure a good match. Our team will work with you to determine the right cat.

  • The timeline can vary, but we generally aim to complete adoptions within 1-2 weeks of the initial application, provided all requirements are met. We want to make sure both you and the cat are fully prepared before going home.

  • As a Coven Cat Refuge foster, you'll provide a loving, temporary home where rescued cats can heal, grow, and prepare for their forever families. We cover all essential supplies and veterinary care, and our team is available 24/7 to support you.

  • Foster durations can range from 2 weeks to several months, depending on the cat's needs. Some may only require short-term care, while others may need more time to become adoption-ready. We work closely with our fosters to determine the best timeline.

  • Not at all! We provide comprehensive training and resources to prepare all of our new foster parents, regardless of your experience level. Our team will guide you every step of the way.

  • We understand that life circumstances can change. If you need to end a foster placement early, just let us know and we'll make arrangements to safely transition the cat to a new home.

  • You can make a one-time donation or sign up to be a monthly Guardian on our website. We also have an Amazon Wish List for direct supply donations. Any contribution, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of our rescued cats.

  • Yes, as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations to Coven Cat Refuge are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We're happy to provide tax receipts upon request.

  • Your support directly funds the essential medical care, supplies, and daily care for our rescued cats. This includes veterinary exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, nutritious food, and enrichment activities.

  • In addition to fostering and donating, we welcome volunteers to help with everything from socializing cats to assisting with events and administrative tasks. You can also help spread the word about our mission and cats available for adoption.
